What it is
Two or three paragraphs in plain language: what problem it solves on a jobsite, what a contractor actually does with it, and why it beats the shoebox of receipts and the notes app they use now. Write it the way you'd explain it to someone on a truck tailgate, not the way a store listing is written.
A second paragraph for anything unusual about how it works — for example, that scanning works with no signal and syncs later, or that it's built for gloved hands and bright sun.
What's in it
- A capability, described in a few words.
- Another.
- A third.
What this title stores
This is the one Fandonia title with a server. Everything else we make keeps your data on your phone and nowhere else. This one does not, and it would be dishonest to bury that. A tool whose job is to keep your paperwork safe cannot keep it in the one place most likely to be lost, stolen, or dropped into a foundation pour.
Here is exactly what that means.
What lives in your account
- An email address and password you set, so nobody else can reach your files.
- The documents and receipts you scan, and the job names, notes, and organisation you put around them.
- Ordinary server logs and backups needed to run the service and restore it after a failure.
We do not ask for your name, your business name, your address, or your phone number. We do not ask for anything we do not need.
What we never do with it
We do not sell it, trade it, or share it. We do not mine it for insights about you, your trade, or your prices. We do not use it to train machine-learning models, ours or anyone else's. We will not read your documents except where you ask us to in order to help you, or where we are compelled by law. There is no advertising in this app and no third-party analytics code in it.
The paperwork has other people's information on it
A receipt or an invoice usually carries a client's name, an address, or a price. We hold those documents on your behalf — you decide what goes in and what it is for, and we store it. In the language of privacy law you are the controller and we are your processor. Your obligations to your own clients stay yours; our job is to make them easier to meet, not to take them over.
How it is protected
Your files are encrypted in transit and encrypted at rest, and access is limited to what is needed to run the service. Name the hosting provider and where the data physically sits, before release. If we ever suffer a breach affecting your files, we will tell you what happened, what was affected, and what we are doing about it — promptly and in plain language, whether or not a law requires it.
Getting it out, and getting rid of it
You can export everything at any time, in a format you can open without our app — your records should never be hostage to our software still existing. You can delete individual documents or your entire account. State the deletion timeline and the backup-expiry cycle here before release.
If you stop paying, we will not lock you out of your own paperwork on the day the card fails. State the read-and-export grace period here before release. We will tell you before anything is removed.
Terms for this title
These supplemental terms apply to Contractor App in addition to Fandonia's general Terms of Use, which govern all of our games and apps. Where the two conflict, the terms on this page control for this title only. Everything in the general Terms that isn't changed here still applies.
1. What this title is — and is not
Contractor App is a working tool. It is not professional advice, and it does not replace your own judgment, your licensing, your local building codes, permit requirements, inspections, or a formal estimate prepared for a client. Anything the app calculates, extracts from a scan, suggests, or checks off is an aid that you are responsible for verifying before you rely on it, quote from it, file it, or build to it.
It is not an accounting system, a tax filing, or a substitute for your bookkeeper. A scanned receipt is a picture of a receipt; whether it satisfies anyone's record-keeping requirements is between you, your accountant, and the authority asking. We are not liable for work performed, bids submitted, materials ordered, deductions claimed, or deadlines missed on the basis of what the app shows you. If a number matters, check it.
2. Your account
This title requires an account, and the account is how we tell your files from everyone else's. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account, including anything your crew does with credentials you gave them. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has got in. We may suspend an account that is being used to break the law, to attack the service, or to store material that has nothing to do with running a trade — and if we ever do, we will tell you why and give you your files.
We will try hard to keep the service running and will not promise that it never goes down. Nothing here is an uptime guarantee. Scanning and reading what is already on your phone should keep working when the service does not.
3. Your data, and your clients' data
Everything you put in stays yours. We claim no ownership of your documents and no licence to use them beyond storing them, displaying them back to you, and keeping them safe and backed up.
Where your documents contain information about your clients, you are the controller of it and we act as your processor, on your instructions, for the purpose of providing this service. We will not use that material for any other purpose. If your business needs a written data processing agreement to satisfy a customer or a regulator, ask us at direction@fandonia.app and we will sign a sensible one.
4. Commercial use is expressly allowed
Section 1 of the general Terms grants a personal licence. For this title that is replaced: you may use Contractor App in your business, on devices you own or control, including by your employees and crew under your account or their own. You may use anything it produces — exports, lists, notes, scans — commercially and without attribution. You may not resell, sublicense, or redistribute the app or the service itself.
5. Ending it
You can stop at any time. Cancel through the App Store or Google Play, and export your files before or during the grace period described above. We will not delete your work without telling you first, and we will never make leaving harder than joining.
6. What you pay
State the model once it's decided. A hosted service costs money every month, so this title is likely to be a subscription rather than a one-time purchase. If it is a subscription, Apple requires all of the following to be stated here: what it includes, the length and price of each option, that it renews automatically unless auto-renew is switched off at least 24 hours before the period ends, that the account is charged within 24 hours of the period ending, how to manage or cancel it in device settings, and the length of any free trial together with the fact that an unused portion is forfeited on purchase.
Purchases are sold by Apple or Google under their terms. Refunds are handled by the store you bought from, not by us — see the support page for how.
7. Age rating and content
Contractor App is rated 4+ on the App Store and Everyone on Google Play. It is a business tool, not directed to children. It contains no objectionable content, no advertising, and no user-to-user communication.
8. Changes to this page
If these supplemental terms change, we'll update the effective date above and, for anything material, say so in the app's release notes and inside the app. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
